Harrisburg Medical Center Foundation, founded on June 13, 2001, is a not-for-profit corporation. Its major role is to raise and provide funds to further the mission of Harrisburg Medical Center and make a positive difference in the lives of individuals and the communities we serve. Providing progressive equipment, offering educational opportunities for staff, patients, and the community, building endowments that support special programs within our hospital and community are some of the Harrisburg Medical Center needs for which the foundation solicits funds.

Major Projects Supported

Some of the major projects the foundation funds support include:

  • Cardiac Rehabilitation – EKG & stress-testing equipment Mulberry Center & Bradford House - Library, Sensory Stimulation Board
  • Emergency Services – Fetal Heart Tone Doppler, heart monitor, and digital thermometers
  • Laboratory – B-Type Nutriuretic Peptide (BNP) Machine helps confirm a diagnosis of congestive heart failure, Infant Blood Draw Station, Phlebotomy Work Station, and a Plasma Thawer
  • Nutrition Department Equipment
  • Meditation Garden
  • Home Health Department – Ultrasound & Electrical Stimulator, Oximetry Machine-a non-invasive measurement of oxygen percent in the blood, a baby scale, equipment carrier, and a Fingerstick Protime Machine
  • Wound Clinic – Wheel chairs
  • Ambulatory Care – Blood Pressure Cuff/Pulse Oximeter
  • Medical/Surgical – Digital thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, and Roll-about IV Poles, Hospital Bed
  • Oncology & Infusion Unit – Vital Signs Monitor
  • Therapy Services – Fluido Therapy Machine
  • Special Care Unit – Hospital beds
  • Purchase of a bili blanket
  • $100,000 towards the purchase of Orthopedic Surgical equipment

Support Groups

Caregiver Learning Circle

Caregiver Learning Circle is a free ongoing service sponsored by Harrisburg Medical Center Foundation and is staffed by Harrisburg Medical Center Behavioral Health Services. Monthly meetings are held to share, listen, and learn. Caregiver Learning Circle is formed for family and friends who provide support and care for individuals with dementia or other chronic debilitating illness.
